The Best Exercises You Will Ever Do: 1-arm Overhead Squat

For today’s post, it’s a pretty big deal as it’s the first actual post from my spiffy new website that I put together all by myself (with some guidance from a few friends on how to do it). Hopefully this new site will be able to offer some new functions and tools that can help me in the future. Let me know what you think, and sign up for the email newsletter listed below and on the home page to get updates on new posts, information, special deals, and all other types of fantastic.

Now for the exercise. Today’s Best Exercise You Will Ever Do is the 1-arm overhead squat

Execution: Take a normal squat stance, and hold a small weight straight overhead. Squat as low as possible, aiming to touch the floor, while at the same time keeping the dumbell straight up over your center of gravity

What it’s good for: Increasing thoracic extension through the squatting movement, especially if the person has a tendency to round their spines forward during the descent. Also good for shoulder stability in an overhead position without having to go through a traumatic range of motion.

What it’s not good for: Increasing your ability to look cool while wearing a “Mr. Ordinary” T-shirt like the one I’m rocking in the video. Nothing is as cool as the Mr. Mister people. Nothing.
